Big-ticket items stolen from the climbing group include Black Diamond cams, a Honda generator, and an anchor maintenance kit.
The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA) lost thousands of dollars in climbing gear from a theft in late August.
The group used the substantial gear kit for maintenance work at local crags, it said in a post to its website and Facebook page.
“Last week, the SLCA was robbed,” the group said. “This also means that you, our climbing community, was robbed of your donations to the SLCA through this theft.”
Stolen items included a rack of Black Diamond cams and quickdraws, a cordless 36V Bosch hammer drill, and a Honda EU 2000 Generator. The theft also included an “anchor maintenance kit” with specialty drill bits and removable bolts.
The SLCA has already filed a claim and a police report. The theft occurred sometime between August 8 and 11 from the group’s storage unit in Millcreek, said Andrew Brodhead, SLCA’s Anchor Maintenance Coordinator.
The group is also asking local climbers to help locate the missing hardware.
“Please keep an eye out for any suspicious KSL (newspaper classified) or online listings,” the group said.
